Phelps County, Missouri

Established: Nov. 3, 1857
Parent County: Crawford
County Seat: Rolla
Named After:  John S. Phelps, U.S. congressman and governor of Missouri

The old county courthouse was begun in mid-summer of 1860, and was used as a Union hospital during the American Civil War.  It served as the courthouse until February 1994, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places
