Huron County
Located at the northern tip of "the Thumb",  Huron County was created by Michigan Law on 01 April 1840 and was fully organized by Legislative Act on 25 January 1859.  There have been three county seats in the history of Huron County.  First was Sand Beach (now Harbor Beach) from 1859-1865.  Next was Port Austin which was from 1865-1873.  Bad Axe was designated the County Seat in 1873 and remains so to this day.
