Grant County History

The county was taken from the southern portion of Morton County.  
It was named for Ulysses Simpson Grant, President of the U.S. from 1869-1877.

Created by the 1916 general election and was officially proclaimed by Governor Louis B. Hanna on November 24, 1916.
Organized November 28, 1916.

County Seat: Carson from 1916 to the present.
