Wayne County

This is a very unique, very old, historic county.

Wayne County was founded in 1796 and organized in 1815, it is Michigan's only original charter county, named for General Anthony Wayne. It originally encompassed the entire area of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, most of the Upper Peninsula, as well as smaller sections that are now part of northern Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin.

Wayne County is most populous county in Michigan, as well as the 11th largest county in the Nation by population.

The county seat is Detroit.
