County History
It was formed in 1809. Its county seat is Princeton. The county is named for John Caldwell, who participated in the George Rogers Clark Indian Campaign of 1786 and was Kentucky's second Lieutenant Governor. Caldwell is a prohibition or dry county.
Was formed from Livingston County in 1809. Before that, modern-day Caldwell County was part of Christian, Logan, and Lincoln Counties--Lincoln County being one of the three original counties in Kentucky.
