Created on Feb. 15, 1842, it was formed from Hickman and McCracken Counties and it is located in the extreme western part of the state, opposite Cario Illinois. It is named in honor of Captain Bland W. Ballard, of Allen's Rifle Regiment

Most records were destroyed in a courthouse fire on Feb. 17, 1880.


Our goal is to help you track your ancestors through time by transcribing genealogical and historical data for the free use of all researchers.
