JOB SUMMARY:
The Intake Probation Officer/Youth Specialist – Juvenile Division (Part-Time/Weekends) is a hybrid position that is responsible for providing a variety of probation and direct care functions for youth entering the Juvenile Intake Center on behalf of the Elkhart County Court Services.  More specifically, this position will work either a 12 hour PM or 12 hour AM shift on weekends, primarily from the Juvenile Intake Center, with the main focus of completing intake assessments on juveniles referred by law enforcement to determine if the juvenile is detained in secure detention or released on an alternative to detention while awaiting a court hearing. The goal is to provide services that are in the best interest of the child and family, protect those in the community, assist victims, and promote a reduction in recidivism as directed by the Elkhart County Juvenile Court with an emphasis on using evidence based practices. In addition, the Intake Probation Officer/Youth Specialist is responsible for providing direct care supervision and program services to youth placed at the Juvenile Intake Center as well as ensuring that the facility operations comply with the appropriate policies and procedures.
                                     
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be 21 years of age and an American Citizen, Valid Driver’s License
• Bachelor’s Degree, Degree in Behavioral Science, Social Work, or Criminal Justice
• Must be able to take/pass Indiana Probation Officer Certification exam within 6 months
• Indiana Youth Assessment System certification from IOCS/or obtain within 6 months
• Must be able to attend an orientation program conducted by Indiana Officer of Court Services within one year of employment.
• Effective verbal/written/interviewing skills
• Proficiency with Windows/electronic case management systems
• Ability to understand Indiana Statutes

JOB SUMMARY:
Duties include the operation of a variety of trucks, equipment, and hand tools; will primarily be involved in snow removal and highway maintenance; may work independently on assignments, although monitoring, review and oversight will be extensive to ensure employee is, or becomes, competent in duties, responsibilities, and assignments.
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS:    
• High school diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Ability to operate a variety of equipment and hand/power tools in performance of duties, including, but not limited to, forklifts, trucks, hammers, screw drivers, wrenches, drills, air vices, power saws, air nozzles, air compressors, ratchets, files, mops, brooms, gauges, shovels, rakes, chain saws, weed eaters, and others as needed
