Barron County
The county was created in 1859 as Dallas Co
unty (named after Vice President George M. Dallas), renamed to Barron County in 1864 in
honor of Wisconsin lawyer and politician Henry D. Barron. It was later organized in 1874.
The county seat bears a name similar to that of the county. Its site was owned originally
by John Quaderer, one of the pioneers. The village is situated on Section 28, Town 34
north, Range 12 west. It contains several hundred inhabitants.
