Welcome to the Bladen County Register of Deeds web site. As custodians and managers of large numbers of public records, we are proud to provide answers to questions you may have regarding our office. The Register of Deeds Office exists primarily to enable the owner of an interest in property to give public notice of that ownership. The office stops recording all records at 4:30PM. We also house many other public records, such as births, deaths, marriage licenses and notary oaths. We are pleased to record the military discharges (DD-214s) free of charge to our retired military. Birth, death and marriage data has been added to the online search. We have limited the display of that data for security reasons. The General Statutes of North Carolina govern the Register of Deeds Office. We are responsible for the maintenance, integrity and safe- keeping of all public records for which we are legally entrusted. It is the mission of this office to properly enforce these laws, while at the same time providing the highest possible level of customer service. Please browse our site to learn the ways we may be of service to you. |
*New* Property Notification Service |
We have added a new Property Notification service. This will allow citizens and property owners to register their name to be notified by e-mail if a document is filed in the Register of Deeds office that contains that name. We hope that this service will act as a deterrent to property and mortgage fraud. |
Effective August 1, 2014, and by Bladen County Resolution, the Register of Deeds shall not accept any deed transferring real property for registration unless the Tax Administrator's office has stamped the deed certifying that no delinquent tax liens exists on the P.I.N. located on the face of the deed. The Register of Deeds shall accept without certification a deed submitted under the supervision of a closing attorney, and containing this statement on the deed: "This instrument prepared by: ____________________, a licensed North Carolina attorney. Delinquent taxes, if any, to be paid by the closing attorney to the county tax collector upon distribution of closing proceeds." For more information, contact the Tax Administrator's office: 201 E.
